I teach in my home studio near Gladstone, Oregon, just south of Portland, and also travel to students within about 15 minutes of zip code 97267–approximately as far north as Southeast PDX and south to about West Linn.
If you’re outside that area, I also teach one-on-one via Zoom-type video conferencing apps (Live video lessons work best if you are already familiar with your instrument, rather than an absolute beginner).

I’ve taught adults and children at music schools around Portland, and K-12 students in after-school and summer programs at such prestigious private schools as Catlin-Gabel and the German International School.
As a performer, I’ve played lead guitar, banjo and other instruments with several popular bands in Portland, Austin, Sarasota, New York, Madison, and beyond: Rock (see video), Rockabilly, R&B, Blues, Jazz (see video), Gypsy Swing, Americana, Bluegrass, Blues, and more. Among the numerous well-known musicians and bands across the country I’ve performed with are The Motet, Twinkle, Kenny Drew Jr., and Harmonious Wail.
